A birthday saturday

Riding today and Ruby excited about going to the stables – it has been a few weeks since she has been, the schedule at the riding school has changed now the kids are all on summer holidays. The weather has been pretty dreadful for the last couple of weeks...

What will we find in the woods today?

Monday morning and the school trip into the woods. Dropped Ruby off at school and she took the bus with her friends and Rivan and I followed in the car. It is always interesting to find new places to explore and this was a great wood that we had not been...

A bicycle made for two

One of the side effects of the antibiotics (rare) was a ruptured Achilles tendon and when I woke yesterday morning both my Achilles tendons were tingling so I have stopped the pills and am feeling much better - still not right but so much better than...

Household chores

Trying to get any housework done with two small kids is a virtual impossibility, they only want to help, how do they know that their « helping hand » is more of a hindrance than a help? The hoover often comes out after mealtimes while they are still strapped...

Fruit picking and parties

The desire for strawberries got the better of us - we had not been able to find any decent ones in the supermarket so we decided to go to a local “pick your own” this afternoon. It was a perfect afternoon for this; it was still quite hot but not the burning...

What grows in the garden at the moment?

The lack of rain is really beginning to show everywhere at the moment, the goats area (where she can reach) has been mowed short and is like a cricket pitch - very little to eat for her, the hedges have been stripped bare so no blackberries on that patch...

Happy Halloween

A Halloween party to attend - I can make some fancy dress costumes I thought. I found old fleece dressinggowns at the second hand store in grey, brown and white - I like fleece as there is no hemming to do! So I askedthe kids what they wanted to be and...

Visit too short!

Nurse!

When at school I decided to take technical drawing and wood work instead of sewing and cooking - I did try both but got really bored with the sewing class as we spent and entire hour just sewing the electric machine without any cotton to see how straight...

Masks

They freak me out

Creepy crawlies in the house is something which I prefer not to have - I tolerate the spiders as they don't really do any harm and providing they do not drop on me while I am sleeping they are good at catching the flies - they canstay. Flies must die...
