Party on dude

Today was party in the garden day and as we opened the shutters this morning we all shouted with joy as there was no rain, there was even a little bit of blue sky – we sung “the sun has got his hat on and we hope he is going to stay”.  Rivan had a bad night and was awake many times – not sure if it was due to his cold or teeth or if he was hungry – he had a mini breakfast at 2am and then went back to sleep until 7.30.

I was the domestic goddess this morning and chocolate cakes were in the oven by 9.30 – Ruby of course wanted to help mix the cake – this really meant to lick the spoon as many times as possible.  It was the first chocolate cake I had made and was a little apprehensive as my mum always bakes a mean chocolate cake – a hard act to follow. She made the chocolate cake for Ruby’s first birthday so I had to make sure that it at least looked good if it did not taste as good as mums. Thankfully I was really pleased with the results and decorated it with chocolate butter icing, strawberries and smarties.

At the end of the day - what a party dude!

We had a great afternoon; Rivan was surrounded by women and in his element.  Ruby had a fabulous afternoon with a couple of older friends who spent most of the afternoon doing “ring a ring a roses… we all fall down” and running around on the trampoline. Poor Mr M was not feeling well and so wanted lots of cuddles from his mum but all in all it was a fantastic afternoon spent with friends and loved ones to help us celebrate the passing of the last year and the arrival of the new one.
