What to do with empty loo rolls!

Hair cut for everyone this morning (except Ben who was working). We all look much tidier and well kept and for me I have had a good couple of inches taken off as my hair has got so thin that something had to be done (I have to thank my dear mother, and her mother for the fineness of my hair). Rivan feeling much better and starting to eat a little now which is great - we are working on stopping him crying which he seems to do when ever we say "no" or he just is not in agreement with us or Ruby. There are of course times when he is justified - usually when his big sister is not playing fair, but it has become a bit of a habit that both Ben and I would like to break.

With the sunshine out (much appreciated), we headed off to St Savin - a favourite place to take in a little culture by visiting the abbey and then a stroll along the river. We met our dear friends Vanessa, Max and Lynn there and made the most of the afternoon. Our binoculars (made from empty loo roll holders) proved to be good fun - in the car on the way there Ruby was looking out the window telling me what she could see and Rivan spent most of the drive trying to work out how to get the brown tape off.  

Laughter and tears took us through the afternoon (as one would expect with young kids, lots of sniffles and Ruby deciding that she did not need a sleep after lunch). We treated ourselves and the kids of course to a drink in a nearby bar - orangina for my two and coffee for me.   They are at the age now when they really enjoy the ceremony of going out to a café and having a drink and taking in the atmosphere. We warmed our fingers and toes and the kids had fun with the ice cubes, the bar did not get trashed, no broken glass or too much mess and happy kids and mums.  All the fresh air bodes well for a good nights sleep (or am I tempting fate?).

fingers crossed! Mine are snoring but then their sleep gets more agitated between 2:30 and 7:00 usually, why's that?
