Correze here we come...
Finally the day has arrived for us to go down to see granny – Ruby is very excited and looking forward to going on holiday. As the kids get older the amount of stuff that I need to pack into the car is getting less and less – I nearly had room to put the parcel shelf back in this time – no need for high chairs but booster seats instead. Ben took the kids pony riding this morning which gave me time to get everything sorted and pack up the car – much easier to do when they are not around and I even had time for a shower before we departed. I thought that both the kids would sleep in the car as they had both had a busy finish to the week and were suitably tired from the morning’s activities but I was proved wrong. Ruby wanted to sleep when we left but Rivan was intent on singing us lots of songs and then when he finally fell asleep Ruby was wide awake and asking “are we nearly there yet? I can’t see grannies house”.
We arrived in good time even with a short stop on the way for them to stretch their legs and enjoy a little fruit salad. With everything unpacked the kids explored their new stomping ground for the week eager to catch up with granny and Adrian and Rivan had a lovely time following the captain round whilst he watered the garden. Dinner “alfresco” and chocolate pudding washed down with some strawberries. I bathed the kids and got them into bed – Ruby in a big girls bed with the responsibility on her to stay in bed and not wake anyone up – the cot sitting in the same room reinforced the threat that she would be put back into the cot if she did not keep her end of the bargain. We shall wait and see how the night pans out!
