Happy Easter

Happy Easter!  Today we have our big Easter egg hunt party - I opened the shutters with trepidation this morning as the forecast was pretty mixed and I sooo did not want rain today as we would have to cancel the party.  

The kids went over to our neighbour as the Easter bunny had visited her early this morning and she had hidden lots of eggs round her flowerbeds and had two little baskets for Ruby and Rivan.   She sat Ruby on the sofa and explained that the Easter bunny had come this and left eggs so that they had to take their baskets and go and look for the chocolate.  Even Moofa cat came and joined in the morning activities.  By lunchtime the kids already had two quite full baskets of chocolate eggs…..

They were both tired and had a good sleep leaving me time to blow up the balloons and hide the eggs round the village, finish making the garden look nice and then start on decorating the cake - large for the adults and small for the kids, finish off the scones and make sure we had plenty of refreshments in the fridge.  Just as I had finished hiding the eggs and putting balloons round the village it started to rain - I looked at the sky and just said "you get it over with now and then give us a nice afternoon'.  Someone was listening to me as it stopped just before my little bunnies woke from their slumber.  Dressed to impress (ballerina dress) we waited for our guest to arrive - Ben took the afternoon off and enjoyed a quiet 10 minutes on the sofa watching Mary Poppins - Rivan rather liked chewing on a screwdriver - that’s teething for you!

The sunshine came out and as our friends arrived the kids started to get excited and they piled onto the trampoline (such a good investment) as we waited to for everyone to arrive before we headed off round the block chocolate hunting.  Our neighbour came running over and said that we should probably start the egg hunt soon as all the eggs round her house were melting in the sunshine! 

We filled the streets of Goumas in search of chocolate eggs - big and small with empty baskets to fill, one of the many joys of living in a quiet hamlet and no Sunday afternoon traffic.  I think that we found all the eggs, some were very runny and everyone had their fill of chocolate before heading back into the garden to burn off the sugar rush.   I so loved having all of our special friends celebrate Easter with us, the afternoon went so quickly and I did not have time to chat to everyone but laughter filling the garden told me that everyone was having a good time.

As our friends started to drift off I set to making some dinner for us and Vanessa and her twins - it was a special treat to spend a little extra time together while the kids played and we cracked open a cold beer.  Ben helped keep the kids occupied with his disappearing act and I was sad to see the day draw to a close - thank you to everyone for making it a special Easter party!
