Mother’s day with friends and loved ones!
Today is mothers day in France so happy mothers day to all of you reading this and living in France. Have had a lovely day with our dear friends and with our fantastic children – they just make every day special not just mothers day. Our lovely neighbour came round just before lunch time with a beautiful bunch of roses and wished me a happy mother’s day – they are now proudly sitting on the lounge table – a big thank you to her for thinking of such a lovely gesture and taking the time to pick them and bring them round!.
Rivan decided that he would be feeding himself today and that he rather liked his sisters chocolate mousse – so can he have one of his own please and a large spoon! He is getting more and more independent with each day and has reached that tricky stage of feeding when he wants to do it himself and gets very cross if you try to sneak a spoonful in while he is rubbing sweet potato into his hair, this is well and fine but it has to be balanced with ensuring that he is getting enough caleries a day as he is always on the move and is never going to be a “round baby” – the answer is distraction therapy – whether it be singing a song, playing “Simon says” or passing him kitchen instruments that he might find interesting such as spoons, bottles or anything else that is laying about.
This afternoon we had a lovely time with our friends playing in the park on the swings and slide, walking round her lake (a lake nearby) and generally enjoying the beautiful place that we live in. The kids were all very good and walked most of the way round (it takes us about an hour or so), there is enough to keep them occupied on the way and if we run out of steam there is always the “ready, steady GO” to get them motivated.
On the first part of the walk it takes us round the back of some beautifully kept vegetable gardens – so beautifully manicured that I felt compelled to take some pictures – a girl can dream hey!
Spent the evening out in the garden continuing the mulching of the vegetables – invest the time now and not spend time weeding in the summer – how I hate weeding. Off to bed tired but having had a wonderful day!
