Spring like afternoon - at last

The last two days have been hard work - I have been feeling like "death" - it could possibly be man flue but that is pretty serious. Rivan has had a rough couple of nights with sickness through coughing and lots of crying so I have not had much sleep either which has not helped. Today however I managed to get a good hour and half nap while the kids slept and woke feeling much brighter - I hate it when I feel ill and end up snapping at the kids and Ben who probably feel rough too. So everyone was in much happier moods after lunch and the sunshine was glorious - it was forecast but you can never guarantee the forecast will be as it says. It was wonderful to be able to go out in the garden and play with just jumpers on (not big coats, hats, gloves).

The car that I picked up for 5 euros at a brocante last year hit the road this afternoon - Rivan was delighted to be able to get in and drive it first - his legs did not quite reach the pedals but this did not stop him as he just pushed himself along with his feet. He was brighter this afternoon and it was good to see them both smile and have fun in the sun. Ruby was keen to show Rivan just how to get the car going fast down hill - one of the many benefits of living in a sleepy hamlet - no other cars drove through this afternoon so it was safe for them to play out in the road.

We then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the back garden, Ruby and Rivan making a cuppa tea for us all in their kitchen and we tried to teach Rivan how to blow bubbles.  He nearly had it but I think he ended up eating more than he managed to make into bubbles - who cares we all had fun. This evening I am starting to feel a bit better - I still have no smell or taste as poor Rivan can testify - he spent most of the afternoon with a rather nasty nappy on - it was only when Ruby said she could smell something nasty whilst they were playing on the trampoline that I realised his nappy was full - sorry Rivan. A very much needed warmer afternoon with rays of glorious sunshine to lift my spirits
