The first strawberries of the year!

Another early start for everyone today – Rivan started crying about 3.30am and continued on and off until I finally got him up at 6.30. Ruby woke at 6.50 so we all climbed back into bed and had some cuddles and stories before we decided it was time to get up and have some breakfast.  Uneventful morning, Rivan not a happy camper and proceeded to cry most of the morning – not sure what is up with him – teething? Still feeling wretched from the cold he has?  Got into a routine to cry? Or something else?  I have booked an appointment with the doctors tomorrow to just check that he does not have an ear infection which is causing him discomfort.

Another beautiful day - reaching 22 degrees in the back garden - I am not sure if we can safely say farewell to winter but long may it continue. With the weather being so wonderful we decided to head up to Chillac with Karen and her family - the car loaded with drinks, fruit cake and Karen surprised us by bringing some delicious strawberries - the first of the year for us and oh how they tasted good. Ruby enjoyed playing with her big friends and also found a little French friend to play with her in the sand. Rivan stayed close by and enjoyed cuddles from us all as he drifted in and out of a light sleep - the sun warming his skin and the fresh air hopefully filling his lungs to make him sleep better tonight. I managed to spend an hour with Karen catching up and ignoring the kids shouts to "come and play", as we both said it is not often that we actually get to talk without having to entertain the kids.   A beautiful afternoon spent with great company and as we were packing up the car to come home I heard the welcomed sound of the cranes beginning their journey back - hopefully this is a good omen!
