Day at home with mum

I foolishly called the crèche yesterday to see if they would administer Rivan's antibiotics and they flatly said no and that he should not be at crèche if he had a chest infection.  So a day at home with me - it was actually really nice to spend the day just with Rivan and give him all my attention, rather than being split between the two of them. We dropped Ruby off at school and made a quick dash round the supermarket and then headed back home. With the antibiotics starting to take effect Rivan's appetite has started to return - he is not a chunky chap at the best of times and with his recent vomiting and loss of appetite has lost quite a bit of weight - something that a mum never likes to see.

Whilst preparing his lunch I also made pizza for our dinner tonight and he was very eager to be able to get involved and help "knock back" the dough - initially enjoying the sensation of the inflatable dough in his hands and then wanting to wash them as he was not keen on having "sticky fingers" to eat his dinner. He slept well after lunch and then we enjoyed an hour or so in the veg garden, his interest in worms is growing and he decided that he would try and taste one today - needless to say without cheese sauce it ended up in the chicken run. He was fascinated with our neighbour who was working on a racing car in the barn across from the veg garden and watched at the gate as there were lots of revving and roaring as the boys were doing their thing. Ruby had a great day at school and we enjoyed the last of the afternoon sunshine at a local campsite where there is a small slide and we watched the ducks on the waterfall. We made a promise to return with a picnic when the weather gets warmer and sit by the waterfall and enjoy the view. The end of another week - I am still feeling grotty and will be glad when my nose and chest are clear from snot!!
