Gymlastics again
Gymnastics outing with the school today, Ruby very very excited to a) be going on the bus to the gym and doing all the activities and b) wearing her new Dora tee shirt. I dropped Ruby off at school where she took the bus to the sports centre which then gave me time to drop Rivan off at crèche and join the school for the day helping out and taking lots of pictures.
It is quite a special time for me as I get to observe Ruby with all her school friends - a window into her life that I would not normally be blessed to look through. When the coach pulled up all the kids were very excited and quick to clamber down the stairs - Ruby had a great big kiss for me and then fell into line with her friends. This time the kids all had a biscuit and drink before starting the activities - last time this did not happen and by 11.30 all the kids were ready for lunch and not interested in continuing the activities. There were the same two other schools there as last time so in total about 70 kids with teachers and parents to help out. The morning passed quickly and Ruby was happy for me to wander between the groups and take pictures for the school - I now have over 100 photos for the school which I need to sort out and save onto a key.
With the weather being so wonderful we all went outside for a picnic - once the kids were refuelled they were up and off running around in the sunshine - boys being boys and chasing each other and girls being girls and picking flowers for each other and us too. Once back inside it was quite comical seeing the effects of no afternoon nap for the kids and as hard as the groups of parents and teachers tried to get them to do each activity the kids were just zoned out and more into running aimlessly up and down the hall, rolling around on the floor and generally behaving like kids do when they miss their sleep.
I thought that Ruby would sleep in the car on the way home but no she stayed awake, we went to the supermarket and then collected Rivan who had been entertaining some of the old people from a nearby home who were in for the afternoon. The crèche ladies told me how Rivan had sat on an old chaps lap and the two of them had a great conversation - nodding and shaking their heads as each other spoke their special language! A great end to a busy week and both kids will sleep well tonight.
