Chapitre Nature
Hot and sticky today, no school or crèche for the kids as yesterday was a bank holiday and many establishments have taken an extra day off (today) to make it into a long weekend. Out in the garden Rivan chose his clothes - he thought that the pink boots might make him better at kicking the ball and put a big smile on my face as he looked very comical!
Off to Le Blanc this afternoon and this town is really growing on me, there are many shops I have yet to explore but there is a feeling of culture and excitement to the town that sadly lacks in Montmorillon. We went to visit the Chapitre Nature exhibition, which is on all over the weekend provided lots of ideas for me and the garden. As we wandered down the side street to the children's play area there were some amazing photographs of 'water life' - including these stunning pictures of frogs and toads - there was a full exhibition inside but the kids attention span would not allow for a visit - maybe next year when they are a bit older.
The play area for the kids was brilliant - so much going on, with toys and games for them to participate in - all free of charge and made from simple household items and a bit of imagination. Story tellers invited the kids to come and listen to a story - Rivan was the first to take up the offer and sat for a little while but soon he was distracted by the sounds of music - so off the trotted to discover and do himself. I then realised that Ruby was not with us and as I looked over to the story telling corner I found her sat engrossed in a story. They both love books and if time permits each morning like to have stories in bed before we start the morning.
All sorts of music making structures were dotted around the play area - I would like to have a go at making some of these for our garden - I will have to keep my eyes peeled at upcoming brocantes to find materials to construct these out of. Kids brilliantly behaved and despite the stickiness of the afternoon everyone had a great time and no wet pants for Rivan - go boy!
