The future is looking bright

Friends were due at ours for a BBQ this afternoon but with the weather forecast looking slightly dodgy we decided to move location and go to theirs instead.  With homemade bread, tapanade, onion tart, salad, baked cheesecake and raspberries we pilled everything in the car off we went.  It had been a while since we had seen Karen and her family - she had spent a month in the UK doing an intensive TEFL course and I could not wait to catch up with her.

The afternoon and evening was lovely, the kids played upstairs with the older girls who took great care of our kids (thank you to the lovely ladies) and we all enjoyed dinner with lots of laughter and fun - I could not have asked for a nicer afternoon.  

Ben and I have been talking about getting some help in with the house, as much as he wants to get it all done himself, it is getting to the point where the house is taking over his life and not in a good way.   Well this afternoon I felt a grey cloud had been lifted from our shoulders as we agreed that our friend (who is a great green builder) would come and put the internal render on the walls - an covering that would solve many problems for Ben including providing insulation, air tightness, aesthetically in keeping with the property, fast and something that he does not have to do.  The mixture uses vermiculite, wood shavings/dust, sand and a fixing agent and it looks lovely.  We have also agreed that he would come and fit the oak floor - another big job!  For me (and I can't quite believe it as I sit here typing) it means that we will be upstairs for Christmas and my birthday - it might not be finished but we will be up there and also I will get my husband back next year - what more could a girl ask for!!!!!

How lovely, something to look forward to, I hope it is a good cause for celebration. Family time is so precious and taking some of the weight off Bens shoulders will surely mean more special momments. Enjoy & see you soon x
