Summer party
The summer party that the queen of parties had been planning took place today - it was scheduled for Wednesday but due to bad weather was rescheduled for today. Rivan not too chipper but the party celebrations would be a good distraction for him. We had made chocolate heart shaped cakes, decorated with fresh blueberries. The table of goodies that everyone had made was a sight for sore eyes and the added sparklers set the afternoon off.
A great deal of love and effort had been put into the planning of the party, lots of arts and crafts for the kids - the first one was decorating their ice cream necklaces with glitter and such like, this was followed by a treasure hunt - the bees had left little packages for all the children around the garden and they all had fun finding them without trashing Vanessa's garden too much.
Next a brilliant craft project - paper flowers had been made by the 'party possy' and were beautifully displayed in a box covered with moss. The kids then took some real flowers and put them on their paper flowers, covered this with baking parchment paper and then smashed the flower with a stone, leaving both the colour and the scent on the paper flowers. The room smelt divine with the aroma from lavender and the kids loved creating their own flowers.
The final game was water balloons which the kids thought was great - smiley faces were drawn on the floor and then the kids all took it in turns to throw their balloons and watch them 'splat' on the floor. Ruby wants to get some of these to take down to her granny's next weekend so watch out Juno.
