Clothes, clothes glorious clothes

Ben working, Ruby at school and Rivan at crèche - a quiet still house when I return from doing the school run. It is a strange silence and I think back to the time that we first arrived in France - no kids, no work, just a new house and life to build...

Gentle giants

Off to the hospital this morning for my scan to see if this brings up any reasons for the recent high temperature and pain. Rivan a bit confused as Ruby and I got ready, he went to get his shoes also so he was ready but instead of climbing into the car...

We love spring time!

Posh haircuts for everyone this morning, Ruby now has a smart little bob and Rivan looks very dashing with his reduced length. Our delivery from the UK was coming in today (pickle, salad cream, bacon, baby lotion and a few treats too - hot cross buns...

Spuds calling

Blood results in and all is good - a fine set of bloods according to Nurse Ben. This is great news on the one hand but on the other does not explain why I am still feeling the way I am. Scan booked for Monday morning so maybe this will give me some answers....

First dip of the year!

Off to the laboratory this morning to give blood so that some tests can be run to see if anything shows up - feeling much better but still not right. On the way in I explained to Ruby that it was really important that she is really well behaved while...

A bicycle made for two

One of the side effects of the antibiotics (rare) was a ruptured Achilles tendon and when I woke yesterday morning both my Achilles tendons were tingling so I have stopped the pills and am feeling much better - still not right but so much better than...

I have not been feeling great for the past few days and yesterday when I woke I knew it was going to be a day in bed for me - this does not happen often as I am not often ill and I HATE, JUST HATE being immobile. Luckily it was a school day today and...

Shared skills

School for Ruby this morning so after we dropped her off we came home and tackled a job I have been meaning to do for ages – clean out the car ! With Rivan in the driver seat pointing out the dirt, I had the Hoover at the ready. A box for the books so...

Birthday carnival celebrations

Over the last few nights I have been making some fairy wings for her ladyship. Our neighbour gave me the metal coat hangers and some old stockings that did not fit any more and I set about getting creative with some paint, needle and thread and a feather...

Tea and cake in the garden

No school today so we had a leisurely breakfast (Ben working so just me and the kids). I then went to make some cakes. Ruby told me what I would need to get out of the cupboard - sugar, eggs, butter and flour - ahh no flour in the house so a little outing...

First cut of the season

Another glorious day, cold at night but with a light haze in the sky as we open the shutters this morning we just know that the sun is going to shine on us. I hope that this might be the start of spring, the cranes have already flown back which usually...

Spring in our steps

Spring time is soooo just around the corner, I can feel the sun warming our backs and faces and as we headed out yesterday Ruby made the comment "mummy the sun is tickling my face" - what a lovely way for a 3 year old to describe the feeling of spring...

First seeds of the year

It felt good to plant the first seeds of the year today; with the day to myself I arrived back about 11 from the supermarket. Dinner and lunch made, I head out into the garden with a bag of compost, plastic trays saved from our croissants and a box full...
